On 9th December 2025, the Uganda Library and Information Association officially appointed Ruhakana Rugunda as Patron of the Association.
Dr. Rugunda is a distinguished national leader and public servant whose contribution to Uganda’s development, education, and public service continues to inspire many across the country. His appointment marked an important milestone in strengthening ULIA’s efforts to advocate for access to information, professional growth, and the advancement of library and information services in Uganda.
As the national professional body for Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals, ULIA is committed to providing leadership in the LIS profession and promoting the public’s right to access and use information for national development and global engagement. The Association also continues to support collaboration within the LIS community, professional development of members, and innovation in information services.
ULIA expressed confidence that Dr. Rugunda’s guidance and experience will greatly contribute to the growth, visibility, and strategic direction of the Association as it continues to serve library and information professionals in Uganda and beyond.
